I read an editorial today that gives me hope for at least some people... the article was on a presidential candidate and whether his religion should come into play. The answer was a yes and a no. Sounds confusing, but I guess that's the nature of politics!
Given my rant of yesterday, where I am almost ready to vote for anyone who isn't being voted for by the Evangalists, I found this editorial good and thought provoking. The editor was talking about a candidate who is Mormon. He said that the check list of whether it should effect his running was simple..."So, the question is can we trust a Mormon to be ethical, patriotic, well-adjusted, aware of his social, moral, political and spiritual culture and bearings? That's eight considerations on a list that could extend for many, many more. And the answer is "yes" eight times and continuing to the end of the list."
I think this is not the first time in this race we will be faced with these questions...there is a woman and a black and possibly a Jewish person also in the race. Does or should these factors make a difference? I would have said "no", but ya know what? We have a fundie in the White House right now and it is making a difference! I personally don't care whether the president is yellow black or white, male, female or gay. I can wish for a pagan, but it ain't happening!
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I think the media is going to give these differences a lot of publicity. I do have one question??? How do you pick the right one?
Okay- everyone has something that just bugs the hell out them, this is my new bug!
So, I've been hearing about this movie; Jesus Camp. I've been sent clips of it and so on, but didn't really want to watch the movie...the clips were bad enough! So, right now, I'm in a hotel in Virginia on buiness with hubby. Last night, he wanted to watch a movie. Heselected Jesus Camp.
He'd heard me talking about it, but thought it was BS. Of course he thought the same thing about the last scary movie we saw; An Inconvenient Truth. So we watched this movie.
OMG&G!!! I have a new purpose in life! I will fight to my last breath to fight these radical Evangelical nutballs! I have never seen anything scarier than the minister looking us in the face and saying "Evangelicals make up 25% of the voting population, all we have to do is vote and we can make this government ours". I am appalled at this thought...I ran into a pagan the other day who honestly thinks that there is nothing to interest pagans in politics!
For our children's sake, everyone GET OUT AND VOTE!

I've been enjoying ready peoples blogs and ideas. This does seem like a very nice place. It's populated with good people who are like minded (basically) and that's a rare find.
