after the hard work a person pputs into their garden, you like to think it's safe, at least from family members. This morning we got up and let the dogs out and I looked out the back window to see how my tomatoes fared on their first full night outside...and what did I see? A furry little black arse shoulder deep in the dirt! THIS IS WAR! I don't mess around when it comes to my garden! Little furry butt boy is going to get some electric shock therapy real soon!
So, Ed's been painting the siding for the porch, so soon it will look like a real part of the house instead of an added on shack...the rain yesterday set him back and he pouted like a little kid. He spends his week traveling and thinking about all the things he wants to do when he gets home...he's not a happy little camper when it doesn't work out the way he wants!
Last weekend, working in thegarden, we heard a strange noise...it sounded kind of like a sick bull or a moose. After investigating, we have settled on a newly seperated bull moose. It turns out that in the spring, mom mooses kick out last years calves, who don't take the seperation very well. Another critter mystery is the wild canine type animal that makes a path through the woods. Steph and I found scat during our walk and Pixie helped by poking it with a stick to see what it had eaten. It was definetely something wild, but what? Ed found tracks in the same general vacinity last winter, and we narrowed it down to either a wolf or a coyote...we still are not sure, so it's a mystery! We've never seen any tracks closer to the house, so this must just be a path it takes around it's territory.
Last night, while trying to identify some of the local critters, I was playing sounds of the various animals on the computer....the dogs went nuts and had to run outside barking and yipping at what they had "heard". Hey- that's entertainment!
